Donna Guthrie, Oak Ridge

Mrs. Donna Guthrie, 80, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2024, at Patriot Assisted Living in Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Guthrie was born in Rose Hill, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents Arch Seale and Grace Davis Seale, husband Charles Guthrie, brother David Seale, and son Keith Guthrie.

She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church of Oak Ridge where she was the organist for over 30 years and served in the shut-in ministry until November 2017. She worked for Oak Ridge City Schools for over 30 years, retiring as Cafeteria Manager at Woodland Elementary in 2007.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ at home, church, weddings, funerals, etc. She loved sharing the gospel and serving Christ at every opportunity. She spent much of her free time visiting shut-ins in their home, in nursing homes, and in assisted living facilities. Her love, kindness, and compassion for others was on display in words and expressions to everyone until she departed this world.

Mrs. Guthrie is survived by sons Todd (Cheryl) Guthrie, and Cliff (Marilyn) Guthrie, daughter Dena (Daniel) Poston, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Guthrie. Grandchildren Alex (Stephanie), Matthew (Anna), Lauren (Bobby), Joshua, Megan, Jordan, David, John, and step-grandson Chad, as well as two great-grandsons Cooper and Theodore. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Peggy Seale, niece Julie Gregg, nephew Ryan (Ashley) Seale, and brother-in-law Bill (Janet) Guthrie. She had many other nieces and nephews.

The family would like to recognize and say thank you to the staff of Amedisys Hospice and the wonderful and caring staff at Patriot Assisted Living of Oak Ridge.

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, January 4, from 4:30-6:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church followed by a service officiated by Pastor Steve McDonald. Graveside service will be Sunday, January 5, 2024, at 1:30 pm Silver Leaf Baptist Church, Rose Hill in Lee County, Virginia.
