Roane County Deputy Terminated Following Internal Investigation

Although full details have not yet been released, the Roane County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday evening that a sheriff’s deputy has been terminated following an internal affairs investigation into alleged policy violations.

According to a statement released by the department, officials became aware on May 6 that the deputy had allegedly engaged in violations related to standards of conduct while on duty.

The sheriff’s office said an internal affairs investigation was immediately launched. After what the department described as a thorough investigation, the allegations were determined to be true, resulting in the deputy’s immediate termination.

The statement also noted that the matter will be turned over to the Ninth Judicial District Attorney General’s Office for review. In addition, a change of status notice has been submitted to the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission.

No additional details were released Thursday, and the name of the deputy involved was not included in the statement.
