Suspect Arrested After Standoff in Grandview Robbery Investigation

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. — A Cumberland County man is in custody following a standoff with deputies connected to a string of robberies across the area.

On Wednesday, January 14, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators executed a search warrant at a camper trailer on Garrison Lane in the Grandview Community. The search was part of an ongoing investigation into an aggravated robbery at the Cumberland Cove Market and Deli earlier this week.

That robbery occurred Monday, January 12, when a white male wearing a windbreaker, gloves, and a mask entered the store, demanded money from the clerk, and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Investigators quickly began tracking the suspect. Surveillance video from a nearby storage facility placed both the suspect and a black Saturn Vue in the area after the robbery. That vehicle was later located on Garrison Road.

When deputies attempted to make contact, the suspect barricaded himself inside a travel trailer, leading to a brief standoff. He was eventually taken into custody without injury.

The suspect has been identified as 40-year-old Joshua Bradley Ruby of Garrison Lane.

Ruby is charged with Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Criminal Trespass in connection with the Cumberland Cove incident. He is also facing an Aggravated Assault charge related to a separate October 2025 incident in the Westel Community, where he allegedly displayed a firearm in a threatening manner.

During the investigation, Crossville Police were notified and have also charged Ruby with Aggravated Robbery in connection with a robbery at the Marathon Convenience Market on West Avenue last Friday night.

Ruby is being held in the Cumberland County Jail on a $400,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on February 23, 2026.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
