ROCKWOOD, Tenn. — A man with an active felony warrant is facing multiple new drug charges following an arrest Sunday evening at a Rocky Top Gas Station in Rockwood.
According to police, Officers Cofer and Cunningham observed a male subject in the parking lot of the Rocky Top Gas Station on January 11 and confirmed he had an active felony warrant for violation of parole.
When officers attempted to make contact near South Gateway Avenue and Rathburn Street, the suspect was advised he was under arrest. Police say he immediately pulled away and tried to flee on foot. Officers took him to the ground, where he continued to resist. A Taser was deployed, allowing officers to gain control and place him into custody.

During a search prior to transport, officers discovered a small Mickey Mouse purse hidden beneath the suspect’s jacket. Inside, they found a large clear bag containing a gray powdery substance believed to be fentanyl, with a field weight of more than 68 grams. Also inside were a digital scale, aluminum foil, a blue tourniquet, and a Tennessee driver’s license belonging to a female. All items were coated in the same powdery substance.
Once at the Roane County Jail, the suspect told officers he may have methamphetamine concealed in his underwear. Jail personnel recovered a small baggie containing a crystal-like substance suspected to be meth, weighing just under one gram.

The man was booked on the existing felony violation of probation warrant and now faces additional charges including possession of Schedule I narcotics, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.
The suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine have been submitted into evidence and will be sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for confirmation and analysis.
