ROCKWOOD, Tenn. — A former Rockwood Police Department sergeant is being held in the Roane County Jail following his arrest on felony charges stemming from a domestic incident.
According to Roane County Chief Deputy Tim Phillips, Jason Halliburton, age 48 of Rockwood, was taken into custody Sunday at McGhee Tyson Airport by Blount County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Halliburton was later transported to the Roane County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Halliburton faces charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment, which investigators say stem from an incident reported at a residence on Front Avenue in Rockwood.
According to the police report, Halliburton’s wife told investigators that she had recently returned home from a trip to Hawaii with coworkers when she was confronted by Halliburton, who accused her of infidelity and stated he intended to file for divorce. She alleged that during the confrontation, Halliburton physically assaulted her, including punching and strangling her, and held her against her will for approximately four hours.
The report states that after Halliburton left the residence for work, the victim went to the Rockwood Police Department to report the incident.
Chief Deputy Phillips confirmed that Halliburton is a former sergeant with the Rockwood Police Department, having served with the agency several years ago.
No court dates or bond information have been released at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
