UPDATE: A traffic stop Wednesday evening in Rockwood led to the arrest of 26-year-old Haley Alyssa Seals, who now faces multiple drug and traffic-related charges.
Around 7:30 p.m., Rockwood Police pulled over a tan 2007 Ford Fusion in the Walmart parking lot for having a cracked windshield. When speaking with Seals, the driver, officers learned she had no insurance and that her driver’s license was suspended due to child support issues. A further check by Roane County Central Dispatch revealed that Seals’ license was also revoked for a prior DUI offense, and she had an outstanding child support attachment from Morgan County.
During the stop, K-9 Dexter conducted a free-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. A search of the car initially turned up no illegal items until a metal eyeglass case fell from under the steering wheel while the vehicle was being prepared for towing. Inside the case, officers found:
- Three used needles
- Two burnt spoons
- A small piece of aluminum foil
- A metal snort straw
- Two plastic baggies containing methamphetamine, totaling 0.5 grams
Seals was arrested and transported to the Roane County Jail by another officer due to the presence of the K-9 partner in the patrol vehicle. Her vehicle was seized due to her revoked license status.
Seals faces the following charges:
- Driving on a Revoked/Suspended License
- Manufacture, Delivery, Sale, or Possession of Methamphetamine
- Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Obstruction to Driver’s View
She is being held on a $10,000 bond.
