Oliver Springs, TN — A 39-year-old man from Houston, Texas, Martin L. McNabb, was taken into custody this afternoon after officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle entering the town, thanks to an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system.

The alert notified officers that the vehicle, reported stolen out of Newark, New Jersey, had entered the area. Officers quickly located the vehicle traveling east on Tri County Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop. The suspect was arrested without incident and is now facing charges related to possession of a stolen vehicle.

“Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) enhance public safety by quickly identifying vehicles linked to criminal activity, including those from out of state,” said Oliver Springs Police Chief David Laxton. “They support law enforcement in preventing and solving crime, helping to keep our town secure while ensuring the efficient use of safety resources and keeping criminal activity out of Oliver Springs.”

The investigation remains ongoing, and further charges may be pending.
