Roane County Murder Suspect Arrested in Knoxville

UPDATE (12:24, 12/8/20)

A person wanted on Murder charges in Roane County was arrested in Knoxville on Monday around 8pm. Matthew Aaron Scott of Lenoir City was wanted for the second-degree murder of Haley Thomas. Thomas was found dead on March 26, 2020 at 103 Sportsman Club Road in Harriman. One other suspect was indicted, Vickie Lee Chabot, along with Scott on October 21, 2020.

According to a report, Scott was found in the Extended Stay of Cedar Bluff parking lot last night. Scott is currently in custody in Knox County.

According to the Roane County Sheriff’s Department arrest report, 66 year old Chabot was arrested for tampering with evidence at the scene. According to the report, while first responders were performing CPR on Haley Thomas, Chabot was observed collecting items of drug paraphernalia that was scattered throughout the house in an attempt to hide them. Chabot admitted that she did do some “Cleaning up” before officers arrived.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene.
