Henry Lawrence Robinson went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, September 13, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Henry was born on New Year’s Day, January 1st, 1935 in Harriman, TN, to Charlie “Big Daddy” and Lillie “Big Momma” Robinson. Henry was a loving and devoted husband to the love of his life, Lulu Belle for 67 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Lulu Belle Robinson, parents: Charlie & Lillie Mae Robinson; brothers: Charlie “Dub”, Jackie, & Paul Robinson; sisters: Margaret Farr, Pauline Gibbs, Hazel Brummett, Gail Stafford, Patsy Rogers, and Shirley Robinson.
He is survived by:
Son: Shannon Robinson (Martha) of Harriman
Daughter: Shelley Reed (Troy) of Harriman
Grandchildren: Seth & Emily Robinson of Kingston, Jordan & Mike Riter of Harriman, Corey & Yuka Reed of Japan, Conner & Mattie Reed of Lenoir City
Great Grandchildren: Chessie & Lycan Riter, Morgan & Wyatt Robinson.
Henry loved serving God. His Christian walk and Faith in Christ were his first and foremost priority in life. His many faithful services included: choir director, RA leader, Sunday School teacher, Bible School craft teacher, and actor for many special church programs. He was the oldest living member of Piney Grove Baptist Church for 79 years. He was beloved by all his church family whom he loved and supported all his life. Henry worked at Roane Electric Furnace as a crane operator for 25 years until it closed in 1988. In 1957, he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and served 11 years. He was a 60-year free mason of South Gate Lodge No. 569 in Harriman, as well as a member of the Shriners. In November of 2025, he received the Roane County Founder’s Day Award as a Roane Treasure.Some of Henry’s fondest memories were his days at South Harriman High School, where he played football for three years – captain his senior year and all-stars for two. His best memories, however, were those of his numerous hunting trips he took out West for 42 years, with his son, son-in-law, and many dear friends.Henry was most known throughout the community for his work as a taxidermist, which he practiced for 51 years, and was an avid fisherman who enjoyed making and selling his own fishing plugs. He loved selling and fixing antiques and could be found every weekend set up at his local flea market, as well as the annual Highway 127 yard sale in Crossville for the past ten years. Above all, Henry’s greatest love was his wife and children, who he loved and supported in all things. He always supported his grandchildren and great grandchildren at their many events. His memory will live on forever throughout the community.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the team from Amedisys for their care and support, especially Ariel. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm ET at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. Funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm ET. Graveside and interment services will be held on Friday, September 18th, at 11:00 am in the Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, TN. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Henry L. Robinson.
