Oliver Springs Names Rather as Next Boys Basketball Coach

In a video news release, Oliver Springs High School principal, Justin Nivens, named Wesley Rather as the next head boys basketball coach at Oliver Springs.

Rather, a 2010 Oliver Springs High graduate, has been the assistant coach the past 3 seasons under former coach, Brian Channell.

Rather says that he feels he has the athletes to compete night in and night out in District 3-A. We have a lot of untapped potential that I look forward to reaching in the coming years.

“I look forward to seeing you (fans) in Terry Hackler gym, it’s a fun place to be when there’s a good product on the floor and lots of fans in the stands.”

“My goal as the Oliver Springs Basketball coach is to put a product on the floor that is competitive each and every night, that is fun to cheer for and embodies the standards and excellence of Oliver Springs High School.”

Rather named Tyler Harper as his assistant coach.

Principal Justin Nivens said in a text message that, “Wesley is a hard working, passionate educator and coach. He has a clear vision for the boy’s basketball program and we are excited to see what the future hold for Bobcat basketball.”

Rather had a very productive career while playing for the Bobcats, a former all-state player that also was the District MVP and Tournament MVP in 2010 among other awards and accolades.
