Amid cheers and applause, the Michael Dunn Center on Friday announced that Michaele Butler will serve as the organization’s next president. The announcement was made by current president Mike McElhinney in a meeting that included administrators, staffers and clients.

“I don’t know anyone who has more passion for our mission than Michaele Butler,” McElhinney said. Butler has a wide breadth of experience with people that have disabilities as well as wide experience with all the different departments, he said.

In her 14-year career at Michael Dunn, Butler has worked as Director of Human Resources, Director of Social Services, Director or Quality Assessment and Vice president of Public Relations and Development.

“I cried after I heard. I love Michael Dunn Center,” Butler said.
She said the most important reason she loves working at MDC is that the environment is so focused on making the community a great place.

McElhinney, who worked for MDC for more than 13 years, said he will say his formal goodbyes at a reception to be held at the end of June. There will be a three-month overlap during the transition of leadership to Butler.
