A two-vehicle head-on collision Friday evening in Harriman claimed the life of one person and seriously injured two others.

The crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. near the intersection of Pine Ridge Road and Ruritan Road in South Harriman.
According to preliminary information, one of the vehicles crossed the center line and collided head-on with the other vehicle. The driver and sole occupant of one vehicle was identified as Aaron Harvey of Harriman.
Harvey was transported by ambulance to Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center and was later flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He died from his injuries at approximately 3:10 a.m. Saturday.
Shannon and Caleb Hawn, who were traveling in the other vehicle, were also injured. One was airlifted by LifeStar after being taken to the Roane Medical Center area, while the other was transported by ambulance. Preliminary information indicates their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The collision forced Pine Ridge Road to remain closed near the crash scene for a period of time. Three ambulances, numerous law enforcement officers and personnel from the Harriman Fire Department responded.
At the request of Harriman Police Chief Baron Tapp, the Tennessee Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation. Additional information is expected following the completion of the official crash report.
Harvey’s death is also being deeply felt here at BBB Communications, where he worked part-time as the play-by-play announcer for our Friday night high school football broadcasts. He was traveling to call the Harriman–Rockwood football game when the collision occurred.
