Gervis Grainger Morrison Jr, 76

G. Grainger Morrison, Jr., passed away September 23, 2026, as a result of pancreatic cancer – a diagnosis Grainger handled with grace and dignity.

He was born October 7, 1949, in Atlanta, GA, to the late Margaret Allen Morrison and Gervis G. Morrison, Sr. After earning bachelor degrees in Psychology from Georgia State University and Electrical Engineering from Southern Polytechnic Institute, Grainger was an electrical engineer for ALCOA (Alcoa, TN) and Kimberly Clark Corporation (Roswell, GA). Grainger was an audiophile the last 56 years of his life; he loved building, tweaking, and listening to his audio system. His other favorite pastime was volunteering as an electrician for Habitat for Humanity, Knoxville.

Grainger is survived by his wife of 43 years, Paula H. Morrison; sister, Isabel MacRae Allen; brother Graham A. Morrison (Myra); brothers-in-law, David J. Harris, Jr., (Patti), and Frank P. Harris (Abby Avery); 6 nieces and nephews, and 8 grand-nieces and -nephews. In addition to his family, Grainger leaves behind his dog, Bear, and cats, Sam and Ella, who competed on a regular basis for space on his lap.

Many thanks to UT Hospice for their beautiful and faithful assistance. If you wish to honor Grainger, please consider a donation to Church Street United Methodist Church, Habitat for Humanity, Knoxville, or the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley. Arrangements to be determined at a later date.
