Qualifying Period Extended for Kingston City Council Election

The qualifying period for the upcoming Kingston City Council election has been extended after Vice Mayor Lucy Johnson withdrew her nominating petition following the original qualifying deadline.

Under Tennessee’s “Anti-Skullduggery Act” additional candidates may qualify when an incumbent withdraws during the prescribed period following the original deadline.

The new qualifying deadline is noon Thursday, September 3. The city’s announcement listed Friday, September 3, but September 3, 2026, falls on a Thursday.

Those interested in qualifying should contact the Roane County Election Commission at 865-376-3184. The commission’s office is located at 200 E. Race Street, Suite 8, in Kingston.

Together they have three children: Trevor Bogard, Chandler Jones, and Naomi Jones, along with three grandchildren: Carter Bogard, Lucas Hayward, and Adalynn Reece Bogard.
