Gary Wayne (Mack) McBee, 72 of Oak Ridge, TN, passed away on 7/26/2026 home with his wife and close friend Beverly at hand after a struggle with cancer.
He was born in Oak Ridge on July 7, 1954
He joined the Army after high school and graduated with an Honorable Discharge on July 4th, 1979. Gary also received a Certificate of Achievement from the 25th Infantry Division Commanding General at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He was extremely proud of his military service. After leaving the service he worked at the City of Oak Ridge and then went on to work at X-10 for over 25 years. Gary loved his family deeply and loved being outdoors, collecting fossils, fishing, gardening, and was an avid reader. He spoke fondly of his cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends while also reminiscing about days on his grandparents’ farm. Gary was quick witted and had quite the sense of humor.
Preceded in death by his mother Bobby Nell McBee and his father Thurman McBee.
Survived by his wife Angela McBee, son Christopher McBee, daughter Kim Manuele and husband Matt Manuele, grandchildren Ella, Madison, and Lilly, brothers Darell McBee and Mark McBee.
He will be sorely and deeply missed.
