Charles Stooksbury, 81

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Stooksbury, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on August 8, 2026. Born on September 24, 1944, in the town of Andersonville, TN, Charles was the son of Delbert and Mae Stooksbury. He lived a life marked by courage, service, and sacrifice for his family and community.

Charles proudly served his country with honor, completing two tours in Vietnam as a dedicated and brave veteran. His commitment to service continued as he transitioned into a career in law enforcement, serving as a respected police officer in Chicago and later as a jailer in Anderson County. His unwavering dedication to justice and the safety of others was evident in every facet of his professional life.

Beyond his career, Charles had a knack for tinkering with anything he could get his hands on, a testament to his inquisitive mind and creative spirit. He loved to shop and was a frequent visitor to gun shows, where he delighted in trading guns and sharing stories with fellow enthusiasts. Charles had a soft spot for all animals and was known for his gentle care and affection. He also enjoyed spending time with his great-grandbabies.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Mae Stooksbury; his first wife, Starla Stooksbury; his second wife, Doris Stooksbury; and his beloved dog, Paige.

He is survived by his three daughters, Tracie Schlittler, Carrie Stooksbury, and Kelsie Andrews; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dog, Shadow.

Services are as follows:

Visitation: Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Red Hill Baptist Church from 12 – 2 PM.

Funeral Service: To follow Visitation

Graveside: Immediately following the funeral service at Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery
