Carolyn Sue Boggs, Clinton

Carolyn Sue Boggs, age 85, of Clinton, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on May 16, 1941, in Dunham, Kentucky, to William and Mildred Childers, she grew up in Cumberland, Kentucky, and was known as “Sue” to her friends and “Grammie” to her family.

She will be remembered for her loyalty, friendship, generosity, and willingness to give anything she could to help people she loved, and she shared her fellowship of God to all that she met.

Sue was a member of First Baptist Church in Clinton, Tennessee, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 35 years. She was a volunteer at the service center where they provided food and clothing to those in need. Sue became well-known as a prominent wood carver and created Santa Claus folk art carvings that have been distributed across the United States.

Sue will be remembered for her warmth, quiet strength, and devotion to her family and her Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by her children, Suzi Schmidt (Eric), Brent Boggs (Christy), Bradley Boggs (Ilah); her grandchildren Daniel Schmidt (Liz), Clay Schmidt, Maddie Herring (Wriley), Sarah Boggs, Kate Boggs, Benjamin Boggs, Caden Boggs, Joshua Boggs; her great-grandchildren; and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Delano Boggs.

A memorial service will be held on August 24, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 225 N. Main Street, Clinton, Tennessee 37716. Receiving of friends will be 12pm–12:30pm, service from 12:30pm–1pm, and a graveside service will follow at Grandview Memorial Garden. Her family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time.
