Chalmer Ray Reed, age 91, of Oliver Springs went home to be with the lord, Sunday, July 26, 2026 at his home.
Chalmer grew up and attended school in the Marlow Community. He stayed in touch with his childhood friends and enjoyed the fact that they stayed in contact with each other throughout the years. Chalmer and his wife, Margaret were always willing to help people in need, even as much as financially. He worked at Oak Ridge Schools and then went on to Oak Ridge National Lab as an ironworker, where he worked for 20 years before retirement. He loved church, reading his bible and sports, especially football.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Sue Hightower Reed, by parents, Clifton and Myrtle Reed, by step-mother, Roxie White Reed, his sisters, Nadine Beets, Helen Compton, Marlyn Robbins and Dorothy Schrader.
He is survived by two sons, Timothy Reed and Matt (Lori) Reed, by sister, Mary Edwards, grandchildren, Chad (Lane) Reed, Leah (Jansen) Hamm, great-grandchildren, Jackson, Emma Grace & Levi Hamm and Quinn and Murphy Reed.
The family would like to express gratitude to the Quality Private Duty Care Nurses and Amedisys Hospice Nurses.
