Roane State expands commencement ceremonies for Class of 2026 graduates and guests

Harriman, TN – Roane State Community College will honor the Class of 2026 this weekend with four different commencement ceremonies, having added an additional ceremony this year to better accommodate the growing number of graduates and guests.

Commencement ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9. An afternoon and an evening ceremony will be held May 8 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET. Two more ceremonies are scheduled for May 9 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. ET.

All ceremonies are held on the Roane County Campus in the gymnasium. There are no limits on the number of guests graduates may bring and seating is first-come, first-served. Please note that when gymnasium capacity is reached, guests will be asked to use overflow seating to view the ceremony via live video feed.

The ceremonies will be streamed online as well for anyone who cannot attend in person. Links to each live stream will be available at roanestate.edu/ceremony.

Caps and gowns for graduates are available at the Roane County Campus bookstore. There is no additional charge for caps and gowns and graduates may keep the regalia. Last-minute pickups will be available prior to each ceremony. Those who have achieved academic honors (3.5 GPA or higher) will be eligible to purchase a gold honors tassel for a small fee.

Veteran, Middle College, and first generation graduates will be recognized with special cords and stoles. First generation stoles will be available on the day of commencement in the student lounge for those who have confirmed their first generation status. Middle College students received their cords during a special ceremony in late April.

A graduate of Coalfield High School in 1987, Brad later earned his degree from the University of Tennessee College of Communications in 1995, where he was honored with the 1995 Broadcast Production Student of the Year Award. Brad is married to Nicole Jenkins Jones, a 1990 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. Nicole works at Oak Ridge Gastroenterology Associates. Together they have three children: Trevor Bogard, Chandler Jones, and Naomi Jones, along with three grandchildren: Carter Bogard, Lucas Hayward, and Adalynn Reece Bogard.
