Mary Cornelia “Connie” Randitt Horne, 93, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord on May 1, 2026.
Her husband, Terrell E. Horne, Sr. passed recently on April 25, 2026. They shared 75 wonderful years of marriage and a deep devotion to each other. Both passed peacefully at home. Connie was born on August 13, 1932, in Cochran, GA to Henry “Doc”
Randitt and Sue McNair Randitt. From an early age, she carried a quiet strength and deep faith that would guide her throughout her life. Connie built a life rooted in love, devotion, and resilience.
As a proud Air Force wife, Connie faithfully supported Terrell’s military career, creating a warm and steady home wherever they were stationed. Through every move and every season of life, she remained the heart of her family.
Connie was a devoted mother to her children, Terry (Phyllis) Horne of Merritt Island, FL, and Amy Thompson of Clinton, TN. Her love extended deeply to her 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Connie also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whom she dearly loved.
In addition to her parents and husband, Connie was preceded in death by her sons, Thomas Payne Horne and Joel Timothy Horne; her grandsons, Terrell E. Horne III and Jason Horne; and her sister, Marie Mask Bassett. To know Connie was to know kindness, faith, and unwavering love. She found her greatest happiness in caring for her family and nurturing those around her. Whether as a wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, sister, or friend, she gave of herself freely and generously. She leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Connie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge and a long-time member of United Women in Faith. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Quality Private Duty Care who provided excellent care and genuine kindness and concern for Connie in the years preceding her death.
A combined service to celebrate Connie and Terrell’s life will be held on May 8, 2026. Receiving friends will be held at 5:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Oak Ridge, TN.
