Woman Airlifted After Shooting in Rockwood

ROCKWOOD, Tenn. — Authorities are investigating after a woman was shot late Wednesday night in Rockwood.

The incident was reported around 8:30 p.m., with emergency crews responding to the scene. Initial reports indicate the shooting happened on West Rockwood Street, though there are also indications it may have occurred on Trinity Avenue. Officials are still working to confirm the exact location.

Rockwood Police, fire personnel, and EMS all responded to the call.

A 64-year-old woman was reportedly shot in the head area and was airlifted by LifeStar from the Rockwood Sports Complex on South Chamberlain Avenue to a Knoxville hospital. Her condition is not known at this time.

A spokesperson for the Rockwood Police Department said late Wednesday night that the investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is being released right now.
