Stephen Doyle Cottrell from Clinton, TN, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
He was born on June 14, 1951, in Oak Ridge to the late Woodrow D Cottrell and Lenora M (Matheson) Cottrell. He retired from TVA after 35 years of service as a wildlife biologist. Steve loved to hunt and fish, loved being a porch picker, and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed playing the fiddle, as well as other musical instruments, and performed at the Old Timers Day at Cades Cove, the Dogwood Arts Festival, the WDVX Blue Plate Special Show, and the local Cas Walker Show.
He is survived by his son, Ryan Cottrell; brother, Gary Cottrell (wife Theresa); nephew, Joshua Cottrell; nieces, Emily Cottrell, Kaitlyn Cottrell, and Mary Grace Cottrell.
His celebration of life will be held at Holly Gamble Funeral Home on April 24, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM
with services to follow.
