ROANE COUNTY, Tenn. — Both the men’s and women’s golf teams at Roane State Community College are headed back to the national stage after strong performances in district competition this week.
The Lady Raiders earned their spot at the NJCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship following a steady showing at Quail Heights Golf Club in Lake City, Florida.
Head coach Rick Maharry credited familiarity with the course as a key factor in the team’s success.
Sophomore Raegan Corvette led the way with a runner-up finish, posting rounds of 79 and 74. Sydney Romer also delivered, finishing fifth overall with consistent rounds across both days.
Despite challenging course conditions, the Lady Raiders showed resilience and composure, continuing an upward trend that now has them ranked 17th nationally.
They will compete for a national title May 12–15 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
On the men’s side, the Raiders secured their fourth straight trip to nationals after battling through tough conditions at Morristown Country Club.
Head coach Chris Griffin said the team didn’t play its best, but still found a way to advance.
Freshman Collin Keino led the Raiders with a fifth-place finish and was recently named TCCAA Region 7 Player of the Year. Jackson Hawkins added a top-10 finish, placing tenth.
The Raiders, currently ranked 11th in the nation, will compete in the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship beginning May 19 in Plymouth, Indiana.
With both teams advancing, Roane State continues to establish itself as a consistent presence on the national stage.
