BBBTV12 Serving Anderson, Roane, and Morgan Counties
The Oak Ridge High School Band will celebrate a successful school year with its annual spring concert on Tuesday, May 5.
The performance begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Performing Arts Center.
The evening will feature a variety of musical selections from several ensembles, including the JazzKats, Percussion Ensemble, and the full Concert Band under the direction of Michael Spirko and Sean Rutherford.
The JazzKats will perform Uptown Throwdown by Zachary Smith and Tank! from Cowboy Bebop by Yoko Kanno.
The Percussion Ensemble, directed by Rutherford, will showcase:
- Shark Week by John Hobbs
- Riptide by Patrick Speranza
- Shades of Glass by Dustin Schulz
The ensemble recently earned first place at ETPAA competitions in Jefferson County and at championships in Hardin Valley.
The full Concert Band, under Spirko, will perform:
- Esprit de Corp by Robert Jager
- Zeus: King of the Gods by Rob Romyen
- Ride of the Dawn Treader by Richard Meyer
Students also earned recognition this year with selections to All-East and All-State honor bands.
Color guard teams also had a strong season, with Winter Colorguard placing second at ETPAA Jefferson County and fifth at championships, while Prep Guard earned third-place finishes at both events.
Tickets are $3 for adults and $1 for students. Band Boosters will have concessions available, including pizza and drinks. Donations are also accepted to support the program.
