A longtime park in Anderson County is set for a major transformation, as the City of Norris moves forward with plans to build a new multi-use sports complex.
The project will redevelop the existing tennis courts next to the Norris Community Building into a modern recreational space featuring pickleball courts, a high school-size basketball court, and upgrades to the current tennis facilities.
The project carries an estimated cost of around $1 million and is being supported in part by a state recreation grant awarded in 2024, which requires matching local funds.
City officials say the complex is part of a broader long-term plan to improve parks and recreational facilities across Norris.
Norris City Manager Bailey Whited called the project a “generational investment,” saying it will provide new opportunities for residents to stay active and connect with the community.
The project is still in the planning phase, with final design details and construction costs expected to be determined once bids are received.
