Kathryn Lee Barnhard, age 81, of Clinton, passed away on April 19, 2026.
She was born on December 10, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan. The Air Force took them to California, and in 1992, they moved to Tennessee. They attended First Baptist Church in Norris.
On October 27, 1962, she married her soulmate, Edwin, beginning an extraordinary journey together that would span over 63 years. As a devoted military spouse, Kathryn supported her husband Edwin—a veteran of the United States Air Force—through moves and adventures that took them from Michigan to California and eventually to Tennessee in 1992. Through it all, she remained a steadfast anchor for their growing family, raising two children and creating a warm home. She was an avid reader who found joy in losing herself in stories, and those who knew her understood her tender heart for animals—they always seemed to know they were cherished in her presence.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nora Lawhorn, and sister, Sharon Elizabeth Nigels.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Edwin Barnhard; son, Thomas Barnhard and wife Juliann; daughter, Sheriann Wheeler; grandchildren, Chrystal Barnhard, Jon Barnhard, and Catrina Barnhard and husband, Eric Haynes; great-grandchildren, Toby Haynes, Noah Haynes, Myia Haynes, and Kinslee Barnhard; niece, Shannon Cupp.
Receiving of friends will be from 5:30-6:30 pm on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Norris First Baptist Church. Funeral service will begin at 6:30 pm with Pastor David Seiber officiating.
