Kingston, Tennessee – The staff at Cherokee Middle School released a statement Thursday following the death of one of their students earlier this week.
In the statement, school officials expressed their deepest condolences to the family and friends affected by the loss of Kayla Flowers.
“We want to send our deepest condolences to the friends and family who are grieving at this time. It is with deep sadness that we share the loss of one of our CMS students. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the student’s family and friends.”
School leaders say counselors and support services are available for students and staff who may need assistance during this difficult time. Coaches are also encouraging student-athletes to reach out if they need additional support.
At this time, authorities have not released additional details surrounding the circumstances of the student’s death. An investigation is ongoing.
BBBTV also extends its condolences to the student’s family, the Cherokee Middle School community, and the first responders involved.
