Timothy Neal Knight, 63

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Timothy Neal Knight on February 10, 2026. Born December 7, 1962, Tim was the oldest child of Dr. Lester N. and Patsy Ruth (Robinson) Knight.

Tim spent his early years in Austin, TX, and Des Moines, Iowa, before moving with his family to Knoxville in 1970. Though a proud Knoxvillian and a lifelong Vols fan, Tim never truly lost his Texas Longhorn spirit.

Tim attended Bearden High School and was a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he obtained a degree in psychology. Throughout his life, he built a meaningful career in the health care industry, most recently working for Team Health.

Tim found much joy in political debate and in bible study, and was passionate about music. Over the years, he amassed an impressive collection of new and used vinyl and CDs – a tangible memory for his children and family to treasure in his absence. Recently, he was learning to play piano. His passion for music never failed to light up the room.

Tim is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Patsy and Les. When Les entered assisted living several years ago, Tim lovingly spent many days with his dad, sharing their love of life, politics, Tennessee football, and music. He loved and missed his parents dearly and looked forward to their eventual reunion.

Tim is survived by his children, Jake Knight and Jackson Knight, both of Knoxville, his sister and brother-in-law Becky and Rob Cameron, also of Knoxville, and his brother, Kent Knight of Georgia. Tim will be dearly missed by his friend and partner of many years, Lisa Estes.

In addition, Tim leaves behind special Mowry, Robinson, Felkner, and Morris cousins who are scattered across the country, a tight-knit group of lifelong middle and high school friends, and an adopted former stepdaughter, Natalie.

If you would like to honor Tim’s memory, the family kindly requests memorials be made to Samaritan’s Purse, or to another charity that is meaningful to you. There will be no public memorial at this time.

“And if you ever get lonely, just go to the record store and visit your friends.” Tim’s spirit will be there.
