KINGSTON, Tenn. — Authorities responded Tuesday afternoon to a reported bomb threat at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Kingston Steam Plant.
According to initial information, the threat was called in around 12:30 p.m., prompting the evacuation of at least one building on the plant site.
Law enforcement agencies moved quickly to secure the area. Kingston Police closed Swan Pond Road at the Highway 70 entrance, while the Roane County Sheriff’s Office blocked additional access near Swan Pond Circle as a precaution.
Officials have not released further details regarding the source of the threat or whether any suspicious devices were located. The status of plant operations has also not been confirmed.
