Fleischmann Applauds Final Passage of the Laken Riley Act

Laken Riley Act Next Goes to President Donald Trump’s Desk to Sign into Law

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03) released the following statement following the final passage of the Laken Riley Act in the House of Representatives.

“Today, I proudly voted for the final passage of the Laken Riley Act. This bill represents one of the first major immigration reforms Congress has passed in years. The American People rendered a decisive and clear verdict in November that they want criminal illegal aliens detained and deported, and illegal immigration at our borders ended for good. The Laken Riley Act is a necessary and important first step to restore law and order across our nation and end America’s illegal immigration crisis that has plagued our great nation for the previous four years. The tragic murder of Laken Riley at the hands of an illegal alien last year should never have happened. Once President Trump signs the Laken Riley Act into law, police and law enforcement nationwide will have the tools and capabilities to ensure that a tragedy like Laken Riley’s murder never happens again.”

“I thank my bipartisan colleagues in the House for supporting this important bill and urge all my colleagues, regardless of party, to continue to come together to pass commonsense border security reforms that will protect our nation and our fellow Americans.”
