Rockwood residents are encouraged to gather downtown this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. to show their support for the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment as they depart for a contingency deployment in Kuwait. The regiment will begin their journey from the National Guard Armory, traveling down Rockwood Street.
A farewell event was previously held in late July at the Cadillac Grill, where community members had the chance to meet and speak with several National Guardsmen, including Sergeant Josh Evans, who shared details about the upcoming deployment.
Residents attending the send-off will have the opportunity to wave flags, which will be handed out by a local resident while supplies last. The Rockwood community is invited to line the streets to give the regiment a heartfelt farewell as they embark on their mission.
