Oak Ridge, TN. – Mrs. Sylvia Ann Brinkman, Age 82, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior on August 16, 2024, surrounded by family.
Sylvia Ann has spent her last 69 years with her best friend and husband, Skip Brinkman. They shared their lives together until she was called home to our Lord. They provided a great example of what marriage can be when you prioritize love, hard work, and commitment to one another through feast and famine. We take joy in knowing she’s lived an amazing life with the man she loved most, Skip. She raised two loving sons, and took pride in their successful marriages and their families.
She was able to see her grandkids, whom she treasured, grow into their lives and become positive additions to their communities. She lived to love and enjoy her great-grandchildren. Sylvia impacted the lives of countless teens growing up around Oak Ridge, through her 30-plus years as a teacher, her many years as an Assistant Track Coach at Oak Ridge High School, and as an Associate Professor at Roane State Community College.
She served on the Anderson County School Board and the Oak Ridge Sports Hall of Fame. She served her community for many years as a volunteer coach in the Oak Ridge Community Church League and City Youth sports programs, AAU Junior Olympics. Sylvia maintained, supported, and continued to make an impact on so many young lives as they became adults and began their own families. She traveled all over this country, that she loved and supported, with Skip, friends, and family.
She loved the mountains, oceans, and the lakes and thoroughly enjoyed the great outdoors. We are going to miss her, but we know that everyone has a day that God calls them back to him. Sylvia is in such bliss that we can’t even fathom. She will be looking down on us, although she will not physically be here, she will always be with us.
We all have amazing memories growing up with her that we will not ever forget that will carry us forward. So, we will just take it day by day and be thankful for the amazing life she lived and be thankful for the love she had for us and we had for her.
