Aug. 27, 2024 — Aspiring dancers in grades Kindergarten through 11th are invited to participate in the upcoming Dance Cats Junior Clinic hosted by the Oak Ridge High School Dance Cats on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Wildcat Arena.
Dancers will learn the official fight song, along with dances and chants that the Dance Cats perform at games during football season. Two sessions will be offered, the first geared towards younger athletes grades Kindergarten through fourth grade, from 10:00 a.m. until Noon. Fifth through eleventh graders will attend from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. All athletes who register prior to September 8, will receive a free T-shirt.
Participating athletes are invited to dance with the Dance Cats at Blankenship Field during the 3rd Quarter of the Oak Ridge vs. McMinn County game, Friday, September 20. The cost for the clinic is $50.00 per dancer to be paid upon registration. Students from all area schools are welcome, including those outside of Oak Ridge School District. No dance experience necessary.
The Oak Ridge High School Dance Cats are made up of 28 athletes in grades 9-12 at ORHS who perform a variety of styles of dance on the sidelines of Friday night football games including Hip Hop, Pom, and Jazz, to raise spirit in the Home stands. Off the field, the dancers are dedicated students and serve as ambassadors for the community volunteering at many events including the Lavender Festival, Free Medical Clinic’s Annual Fundraiser, and more. The Dance Cats are the 2023 TSSAA Dance Team State Champions in Large Varsity Hip Hop and will return to State Competition in November to defend their title. They are coached by Pamela Reedy and Renee Anderson.
