Lettie Charlene Jameson, 84

Lettie Charlene Jameson was born of goodly parents, Lowell William and Charlotte Ann (Jensen) Jenkins, on August 26, 1939, in Logan, Utah. Along with her four younger siblings, Sharon Ballard, Joyce Jenkins, Lola Lager, and Kevin Jenkins, Charlene was raised in the small farming community of Newton, Utah, where she was taught to work and play. She often told stories of her childhood and described it as wonderful.

Charlene’s dedication to hard work blessed her life. As a young girl, she worked to master skills such as sewing, cooking, cleaning, piano playing, and dancing—in which she excelled. She graduated from North Cache High School and then from beauty school. She also built a successful career in the grocery industry, where she made many friends, including her close friend, Shirlene Bolen. Her last career change was to care for her grandchildren. In addition to working full-time, she kept her home organized, immaculate, and beautiful, and she diligently cared for her family.

She worked to help her family in their endeavors. She married Jack Tobler in 1961, and to this union were born her three children: Janalynn Tobler McClain, Eric Tobler, and Daniel Tobler. Charlene’s focus was always on her children and their posterity: Christopher, Andrew, and Steven McClain; Haley Tobler Wells, Hannah Tobler Chapman, and Caroline Tobler Wilson; Aaron, Connor, Nathan, Brody, and Madelyn Tobler; Katy, Ryan, Grace, and Charlotte McClain; Tony, Kristen, and Charles McClain; Cash and Memphis McClain, Bennett Wells, Blake Wilson, and Crew Chapman. She embraced her in-laws as her own: Tony McClain, Kristen Conner Tobler, Mandy Johnson Tobler, Jennifer McIntyre McClain, Suzanne Williams McClain, Lauren Francom McClain, Spencer Wells, Dalton Wilson, Jordan Chapman, and Benjamin Hall. Her capacity to love is noted by all through cherished memories.

Charlene is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which provided her many opportunities to serve in various capacities including as a teacher and leader. It was there that she built valued friendships through her family home evening group, Christmas party pals, and scripture study group, and where she developed her love of the scriptures.

After her devastating diagnosis in 2020, she used her capacity to express love and gratitude through gestures such as signing and blowing kisses–touching the hearts of many who cared for her. Her husband, Arthur Jameson, whom she married in 1989, expressed his love through constant companionship during the last few years of her life. Her family and friends, near and far, reciprocated her love through regular calls and providing personal care. Her faithful caregivers, Connie Schwarz, Donna Furniss, Margo Ziegler, Brittney Lee, and Caris Hospice served her with love and devotion, for which everyone is grateful.

Lettie Charlene Jameson passed away on August 5, 2024, at 5:05 am. Her long exit from this life was a difficult challenge, but she faced it with faith, strength, and love. She often shared with others how she looked forward to her joyful day of reuniting with family and returning to her heavenly home.

Lettie Charlene Jameson’s memorial service will be on August 10, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 140 South Jefferson Circle, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Receiving of friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral will begin at 11:30. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
