On Wednesday afternoon, Kingston Police officers responded to a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian on Woodlawn Drive. The victim, a 12-year-old boy, reported that a black sedan struck him on his left side with the passenger side mirror as it approached from behind.
Upon investigation, officers reviewed surveillance footage from a nearby resident, which showed a dark gray Chrysler 200 speeding through the area. A vehicle matching this description was later found at 115 King Circle, displaying damage consistent with the boy’s injuries.
Police made contact with Nicolas Debord, 34, who admitted to striking the child and fleeing the scene due to his suspended driver’s license. Debord was arrested on charges of reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless endangerment. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
Fortunately, the young victim sustained only minor injuries. Captain Tony Guy of the Kingston Police Department praised the officers and detectives for their swift response, which led to Debord’s arrest, and expressed gratitude to the community members who assisted in the investigation. The department also reminded drivers to slow down, drive safely, and remain vigilant for pedestrians to keep the roads safe.
