
David Joseph Sands, age 77 of Oliver Springs, went to be with our Lord, August 14, 2020. He passed away at his home peacefully with his wife and family by his side. He was born December 16, 1942 and was raised in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.
He had moved to Washington, D.C. where he worked at the Library of Congress. He then came to Oliver Springs where he retired from the city of Oak Ridge after 33 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; David C. and Helen Sands and grandson; Anthony Vespie.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years; Sandra C. Sands, Oliver Springs;
Daughters and son in-laws; Michelle and Tony Human, Tammy and Alan Vespie and Susan Carroll, all of Wartburg;
Grandchildren; Ryan Human (Rachel), Heath Human, Heather Vespie, Trent Vespie (Hailey), Brittany Dyer and Trevor Dyer;
Great grandchildren; Lucas Dyer, Logan Dyer, Haley Terry, Natalya Vespie, Jonas Vespie, Cohen Vespie and Blake Vespie.
David had a great love for God, his family and all dogs and he had many. He was a wonderful husband, grandpa and friend to many. Papaw Sands was always in search of the greatest submarine sandwich. He would say “like the ones in P.A.”
The family will have a graveside, Monday, August 17, 2020 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Oak Ridge, Tennessee at 12 noon with Pastor Bill Edmonds and Mr. Sand’s grandson, Ryan Human officiating.
