Norris Fellowship to host virtual VBS

(Reprinted from the Norris Bulletin)

In the South, it just would not seem like summer without Vacation Bible School and Norris is no exception. The problem is that with all the safety procedure needed today, meeting in-person is difficult and not suggested. So, Norris Religious Fellowship is proud to offer to the children of Norris a SAFE option – Virtual Vacation Bible School.

Starting on Wednesday, July 8 and on every Wednesday to follow throughout the month of July – 15, 22, & 29, there will be two online classes using a Zoom classroom. Covering materials called “Friends of Jesus”, there will be Bible stories, games, activities, crafts and service projects led by Susan Burgess-Parrish, interim co-pastor at NRF, and Alison Greenhouse, Teacher from Norris Elementary. The classes will last approximately 90 minutes each and will be divided into age-graded sections.

Those who have completed grades 1 -3 will meet at 10am.

Those who have completed grades 4 – 6 will meet at 2pm.

There is no cost to participate and prior to the sessions, materials will be distributed to all participants. The only necessity is that the child have access to a computer with a camera and good internet service available. To insure the safety of the children, the log-in details will be distributed private-ly and will contain a password as well. Adults may need to assist the child with logging in…though today, most children are better at technology than the adults. That said, this is a platform that will no be foreign to the children but will be a unique way to participate in Vacation Bible School.

In order to register for this fun activity, download the Registration Form on their website at www. norrisrf.org. Once it is filled out, you may scan it and email it to the Church Office at norrisrf@comcast.net; you may mail it back to “Norris Religious Fellowship, PO Box 267, Norris, TN 37828”; or you may drop it off at the Church Office (23 Dogwood Road, Norris, TN 37828) at any time. If the office is not open, please place the form in the Wooden Drop Box located on the wall of the church, next to the double doors to the church across from the Church Office Building. Either way is fine, though we do need to receive the registrations by Thursday, July 2.

In these different days, we are eager to offer and participate in this new version of VBS and look forward to having children from across our town and region to participate. Help us spread the word!! For more information, please call 865-494-7131.
