Morgan County Deputy injured while attempting to end a pursuit, suspect is in jail

On Thursday, March 28th, just before midnight, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop a vehicle being driven by 29-year-old Lee Alexander Walker, Jr. as he was traveling south on Highway 27.  As Walker refused to stop, Morgan County Deputies began a pursuit.  Walker pulled his vehicle off the road into a graveled area.  Walker then stopped, put his car in reverse, and then back into drive. One of the county deputies was outside of his vehicle and when the driver put the car back into drive it appeared as if he was attempting to drive towards the deputy.  So the other deputy who was still in his police unit struck Walker’s vehicle in an attempt to disable it and keep it from striking the deputy.  Injured in the crash was 23-year-old Deputy Garren Cooper of Wartburg, however, the extent of his injuries are unknown.  Walker was charged with Possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended/revoked, aggravated assault, evading arrest.  He is being held on a bond totaling $90,000.

Lee Walker, 29, of Sunbright. Being held on $90,000 Bond.
