J. Brad Jones
General Manager
Brad has been with BBB Communications since 1996 first as a production consultant, then as production manager. He was named general manager in 1999 and has worked hard at building Channel 12 into a quality local community information station.
While at the University of Tennessee where he graduated with a BS in Communications, Brad worked for The Center for Teleproductions and Video. He worked as a camera operator at the home men's and women's basketball games at Thompson-Boling Arena. He also worked as a teacher assistant in several production classes under Dr. Evelyn Jackson (his favorite professor at UT). Before he graduated in the summer of 1995, Brad was named as the top production student at the annual Communications Awards dinner in the Spring of '95.
Brad began his career in broadcasting back in 1992 when he worked as a production assistant at Shop at Home, Inc. then located in Knoxville, TN. He worked there while also attending UT. Brad was later named as a overnight and weekend supervisor at Shop at Home.
In May of 1995, Brad received an offer to work at competitor home shopping network, Via TV. He worked as an overnight director on the nationally broadcast network for about 4 months before he received a promotion up to producer.
Unfortunately in March of 1996, Via TV filed for bankruptcy and Brad was out of work. He worked for a time for his father at the family owned restaurant in Rockwood called Shack's. While doing so Brad began freelancing in Nashville with Steve Parker, a gemstone dealer that he had worked with at Via TV. Also during this time in August 1996, Brad worked part-time with BBB Communications. Then in October 1996 he became a full-time employee and except for a stint with WVLT Channel 8 in Knoxville, has worked with the company ever since.
Brad married Nicole Jenkins of Oak Ridge on May 31, 1997 and they have two sons Trevor, 10, and Chandler 5. Trevor Bogard, Brad's stepson is a great little athlete excelling in both Basketball and Baseball. During the summer of 2003, Trevor hit over .650 leading the team in batting average, rbi, home runs, hits and on-base percentage. He was the leading 3 point shooter on the basketball team. Chandler has not yet began a sports career, but is his daddy's little man! He loves to bowl, play putt-putt and video games. He's already a master at many Gameboy Advance games.
